Upcoming Auditions

Announcing Auditions for Little Women, our 2026 Winter Play

Eden Prairie Players will be holding auditions for Little Women, by Kate Hamill, directed by Katlyn Moser. The production is casting actors aged 18 and up.

Eden Prairie Players is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strongly encourage people with disabilities and members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities to audition for our plays, or to join us to participate in other ways.

The Play: Jo March isn’t your typical Victorian lady. She’s indecorous and headstrong, and one day she’s going to be a great American novelist. As she and her sisters grow up in the middle of the Civil War, they strive to be brave, intelligent, and imaginative young women. But as adulthood approaches, each sister must negotiate her private ambitions with society’s expectations. In a war-torn world defined by gender, class, and personal tragedy, Jo March gives us her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect little women.

When:  Sunday, November 16 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday, November 17 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Sign up for any available half-hour time slot in the audition form.

Time:  Sign-ins begin fifteen minutes early. Please try to arrive before your time slot begins.

Where:  Eden Prairie Senior Center, 8950 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie, on the lower level. Park in back. (Map)

What: You may present a one minute monologue of your own choosing in the style of Little Women, or you may choose one of these from the play. Click here for the Little Women monologues.

If you cannot attend the auditions and would like to be considered, you can supply an audition video instead. A video is not needed if you can attend in person. Upload the video to your choice of service and paste a link to it in the Link to Audition Video field. Instead of scheduling an appointment, put yourself on the waiting list.

Sign Up To Audition:  Please fill out and submit an audition form. Our audition form is an online form. You will be asked to upload a picture of yourself and a theatrical résumé if you have one. The picture can be a headshot or informal photo of just you, preferably of just head or head and upper torso, in portrait orientation. It should be a JPEG file. The résumé should be a PDF file. If you don’t have either of these files you can still submit the form. Check your calendar and be prepared to enter rehearsal conflicts.

If you cannot upload either a photo or a résumé, you can bring them with you to the audition. If you do not have a résumé, please fill out the “recent theatrical experiences” section of the form.

Roles to be cast:

Meg March - Female Presenting, 20s-30s. The oldest of the March sisters. Mature, yet playful. Acts as Marmee’s second in command. A romantic at heart - likes to dress up and have little luxuries in life.

Jo March - Female Presenting, 20s-30s. The second oldest March. Passionate and determined young author. Does not fit comfortably within the parameters of her given gender role. Very smart and she knows it. Has a great sense of humor and is ahead of her time.

Beth March - Female Presenting, 18-30s. The third March sister. Very sweet and incredibly shy. Agoraphobic and had to be removed from school because of her paralyzing social anxieties. Loves deeply, is brave and sensitive. Sees more than anyone realizes, an observer.

Amy March - Female Presenting, 18-30s. The fourth and youngest March. Opinionated and spunky. Socially intelligent and yearns to be old enough to join society. A perfect little lady - except for her temper and not-so-great command of “vocabiblary.”

Marmee March - Female Presenting, 45+. The matriarch and backbone of the March family. Ahead of her time. She has a good sense of humor and is a warrior, keeping her family together all on her own.

Theodore Laurie” Laurence - Male Presenting, 20s-30s. The March Family’s neighbor. Sweet and sensitive, funny and charming. He does not always fit comfortably within the parameters of his given gender role. Finds a family in the Marches.

Aunt March - Female Presenting, 50+. The March sisters’ aunt. The most unpleasant old woman imaginable. Privileged and judgemental with strong political and personal opinions. Has an intermittent, hacking, disgusting cough. May be double cast as other roles.

John Brooks - Male Presenting, 20s-40s. Laurie’s sometimes stiff and awkward tutor. A poor, well educated man who is madly in love with Meg. May be double cast as other roles.

Hannah - Female Presenting, 50+. The March’s long time housekeeper. An Irish woman who takes no nonsense. May be double cast as other roles.

Mr. Laurence - Male Presenting, 50+. Laurie’s Grandfather. A wealthy gentleman, not comfortable with emotional language and is bad at expressing himself. Tends towards gruffness and temper, unintentionally frightening. May be double cast as other roles.

Mr. Dashwood - Male Presenting, 40+. A publisher of cheap newspapers and novels. Fancies himself a realist. Not a nice guy. Fancies himself a nice guy. May be double cast as other roles.

Mrs. Mingott - Female presenting, 45+. A very rigid, stylish woman. Vanderbilt-esque, condescending, not terribly pleasant. May be double cast as other roles.

Parrot - Any gender, Age is unimportant. Aunt March’s pet. Pure evil. A musty, disgusting bird. Probably an actual demon in parrot form. May be double cast as other roles.

Mr. March - Male Presenting, 50+. Father to the March sisters. Never speaks, but his presence looms large. Wounded in the war, never quite recovers. Struggles with his injuries, both emotional and physical. May be double cast as other roles.
